Anthoupolis Sewerage Treatment Plant

Details

The Contract was for the creation of a Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Anthoupolis Area.

The plant is formed by buildings, technical building, grit & grease separator, basins and operations building forming an open “U”, facing south. 

The visitor’s gallery is constructed as a lattice in steel framework with glass and coloured aluminum panels.  The operations building is constructed in reinforced concrete in structural frames and a curved glass surface on the 1st floor.

The Project also involved Landscaping with 3 recreational lagoons with a total area of 14500 m² and a depth of 2 m, an artificial waterfall and rock garden and paved paths.

The Contract was awarded in 2005 by the Sewerage Board of Nicosia to Messrs. WTE Bamag Consortium of Germany.  As the Project is a Design, Build and Operate Project, the main appointed the Architects Office Messrs. Pefkios Georghiades & Co. for the design of the works and GCC Ltd. as their main subcontractor for all the civil and building works of the Project, as well as the lighting and small power.  

The Project was handed over to the Sewerage Board of Nicosia in June 2008 and the Inauguration took place on 12th June 2008 in the presence of The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Demetris Christophias, the Archbishop of the Republic of Cyprus, the Mayoress of Nicosia, as well as many other dignitaries.
